The Escuelas de Artesanos de Valencia were founded in October 14th 1868 by notable citizens, who cared about social progress. Its foundational aim was "...provide or promote free practical Art and Trades training, as well as moral and intellectual instruction for the working classes, in order to help them achieve the highest possible degree of education and improvement for their own advantage, according to our motto ‘ Moralize by Instruction ’ " (Statutes of the Board of the Escuelas de Artesanos de Valencia).
This foundational aim, based on an equal opportunities policy that compensates pupils’ possible disadvantages due to social and economic factors, has been consistently achieved year after year up to the present time, and it has been fully adapted to new Education Reforms and Laws, different educational systems and new times. As a result, our Institution is fully prepared to provide a comprehensive educational offer sustained by these principles. History
